With laptop and internet connection! :-)

Almost 2 months without being able of comunicating with the world, too long time, too many things to tell,...

At the beginning of November Lucia came to London to visit me, we had some nice days together: Portobello market, party at Andres's, Camden,... She has been the first friend from my village to came to visit me, let's see if some more will come soon,.. you are all invited! :-)

One week later I went to Venice with Julia. It was the last weekend of the Biennale de l'Architettura. Nicola, who has been living in Venice for many years, prepared some nice maps of Venice showing the best places to eat, to go out, to visit. It was great, but the best of all was to see the Sun again after 2 months without seeing it!

Two weeks later I went to Madrid and I had a lovely weekend with a friend who is working there at the moment. We went to see Caixa Forum, we went to El Retiro where we took a boat in the lake, we went to La Casa Encendida,... Madrid reminded me the days that I shared with the Urban Bodies almost 3 years ago,...

And just before Christmas, the Christmas Party, the group 6 one with Secret Santa and the F+P one with Santa's hat decoration competition. It is always great to have a relaxed time with the collegues and some drinks,... dance, chat and have fun.

And now,... I'm back to Pedreguer, visiting family and friends, eating well and resting a lot!!! :-)

Halloween and longing for the Sun

Let's say that the winter has arrived, it's getting cold, very cold,...

Weeks and weeks without seeing the Sun, darkness is increasing and the clouds are blurring my mind,...

Deadline after deadline, 23 hours non-stop at work, jet lag,...

Missing the light of my region, missing feeling the Sun caressing my skin, missing walking up to the mountains with my friends and smell the rosemary, the thyme, and contemplate the sea over the valleys between the mountains...
The last time that I went there was raining so I couldn't go although I was wishing to disappear there for a few hours, to feel the immensity of the nature and clean up my mind after so many months in city. It was not possible the last time that I went,.. but I'm sure it will be possible the next time!!! so,... Lluís, Josep, Hector,.. get prepared to come with me to the mountain!!!

Lately I've also started missing Barcelona, and above all, my people from Barcelona: Marta, Raul, Marina, Kim, Carles, Manel, Jordi, Monica, Mar, Roser, Meri, Gemma,... Now, not only they are still in Barcelona but more friends are there: Pau, Carmen Paula, Maika, my cousin and my sister!!! So I feel that I should definitely go and visit them. It has been already about 9 months since I haven't been there and that's why I've already bought the ticket to go!! :-) It won't be for many days, but enough to revive the years that I lived there. It won't be until February that I will go there but I hope to see you all there!!!

Today my good friend Teresa has told me 2 sentences that have made me think a lot. They represent the way to live that I used to follow but that lately I was trying to unconsciously forget, and when you listen to that, the clear sentence: "it's better to regret something you've done than regretting having done nothing" and "there is no future without present" you suddenly start to see things clearer. Today she has been my ray of sunshine that has moved some clouds away from my mind. Thanks boniqueta to be always there!:-)

9 d'Octubre at home and how hard is being back to London,...

Friends, the ones that are always there no matters what, meeting them, meeting my family, my little cousins that have grown up, Alba starts talking and I guess that the next time I'll see her she will already be walking.

I met a friend that I've been around 7 years without hearing about her, she was studying with me at the conservatory, now she is an opera singer and a pianist. She was giving a concert and I went to listen to her. It was very exciting to see her again.

Go to the river with my sister and Teresa, swim under the clouds in the fresh water of the rain, give presents and experience the rhythm of the life over there, so different from London,...

Great weekend surrounded by lovely people, it was hard to say goodbye again.

Back to London I've had to deal with some problems at work, and I've had to work hard, very hard,... we had a deadline on Friday and I've had to bear with so much pressure and stress, awful!

Now I feel that there is something changing in my life,.. I'm taking important decisions, closing a period of my life, ending with something that has been consuming a lot of my energies and I hope I am making the right choices. I feel better in a way even though it is a pity that things have to finish like that but sometimes it is the only way,..さよなら

End of Summer, beginning of Autumn,...

After coming back from New York I've been working quite hard, we had a deadline one week ago and that supposed 2 weeks of hard work, deliverance and late hours, including some work during the weekend.

Luckily I've also had time to meet with some friends, enjoy some sunny days, visit some exhibition, start my new language lessons in Holland Park, and go to the gym. It doesn't sound very bad, does it?

My friend Natatxa has been 3 weeks in London taking an English course so I've been meeting her from time to time when I could scape from work. We went to a Viktor & Rolf exhibition, we've been enjoying a sunny Sunday in Battersea Park, having some drinks in Hoxton square, walking along the river in Hammersmith,..

Last weekend was the Open House in London and my friend Pablo, who I met in my Erasmus in Delft came to visit me with his friend Rocio. They've just spend one day and a half in London but I think they really enjoyed, and I enjoyed a lot with them although the huge drunkeness of Friday night, hehehe. It was great going to the Shunt with them and find that strange guy who payed for our taxi without us hadn't even asked for it. Was short but intense!

And this weekend, Argentinian BBQ in Iaccopo's place. Good meet, good wine, and good friends: good combination! :-) After that, dinner in Betty's new home, just 35 minutes walk from my place! Happy to see her back to London!
And today, great lunch with the people from my team. We went to Blanca's place in Windsor. Julia, Sharan, Andrés, Santiago, Go, Mika, Blanca, her husband and me. Everyone has prepared something and we had a big tasteful lunch, really good! lovely garden, delicious food and lovely people, what else do I need? After lunch we had a nice walk around the city: the park, the castle, the river,.. It reminded me the NL.

Lately I'm thinking a lot about my life, what do I want, where do I want to go, what is it really important. And, yeah,.. I'm realizing that I use to dream too much, without accepting the facts. I dream and I try to make my dreams become reality but sometimes is good stop dreaming, stop wasting energies in something that is not really bringing you anything (it's not worth it!!!) and start appreciating more that what is there, that people that is there every time, that people that you can really trust.
It is hard to accept that you are not important anymore for some people that was still important for you. But once you realize of that, you appreciate more that people that is always there, that's the people that should really be important for you. And luckily I have great people around! :-) Thank you!

Back from NY and trying to find the time to rest a bit,...

9 days in NY > too many things to explain,...

- Walking, walking, walking many hours a day: Manhattan, Brooklyn, Coney Island, Central Park, Queens,...
- Visiting museums: Noguchi museum (as Gloria told me, you have to go), New Museum, Metropolitan, MOMA, Witney, PS1 (that included a big party)and Guggenheim (with a really nice Louise Burgeois' exhibition)
- Meeting people that studies at Columbia university: my friend Jose, Anna, Ignacio, Curro, Guillermo, Ana Maria,... and a long etcetera of friends of my friend Jose, most of them Spanish who where studying a master there.
- Having nice views of the skyscrapers: from Staten Island, from Brooklyn bridge, from the top of the Rock,...
- Shopping in Soho, Nolita, Noho, Century 21,...
- And having a lot of time to think about myself, my life, what do I want for my future... And thinking about giving solutions to some situations that need to be solved.

Non-stop for 9 days and arriving at the office on Monday morning straight from the airport almost without sleep,.. stay 8 hours in front of the computer and starting to feel the stressing atmosphere of the office again,..
Yesterday Go and me had to stay quite late producing 6 new boards with more options for the tower,I was so tired but at least I had nice company and I learnt how to ask, are you busy? in Japanese (but I've already forgotten,.. ups!)

Back from Dublin and working hard,... too hard,..

I'm tired,.. I waked up at 3 on Saturday, spent the weekend in Dublin, back to London on Sunday at 1 AM and Monday early morning working for the deadline that we were supposed to have yesterday.

On Monday at 6:30, already out of working time,.. I was told to build in 3D a new option for the tower, they explained me how they wanted and I had to do the 3D and rendering for that option and 2 more.

Yesterday I finished my work at 6 but I stayed helping the other people from my team.

And today,.. at 5 I've got a phone call from my boss telling me that we needed 2 more options for the tower, build the 3D, do the renderings,... After I've started that I've got 5 more phone calls from him (who was already in New York, where the meeting with the client is gonna be) and asked me to change everything again and again,.. so at the end I had to stay late again,.. 3 days in a row.

My luggage from Dublin still unpacked and my travel to New York without prepare, and it's not necessary talk about my gym,.. just impossible,.. This is not life,..

By the way,.. Dublin was very nice. Thanks to David who took care of me and walked around with me showing me the city and the surroundings, walking next to the cliffs, watching the seals. Some pictures of Ireland attached.

Holidays>New project

Too long time without writing, too many things to tell,.. Let´s be concise!

I've been in Festes de Pedreguer from the 11th of July until the 20th.
A friend of mine from New Zeland came to visit me the first weekend, we went to the beach, to a concert (Desgavell,...), we saw the fireworks from Dénia and I showed him around. He wanted to run in front of the bulls and he managed to do it! it was amazing! I guess he was the first asian guy that run in front of the bulls from Pedreguer!! I enjoyed a lot having him around but on Monday he left,.. he had to come back to his work,..
During the rest of the week I was going out everyday, meeting with friends, watching the bulls and eating well. The weather was not perfect,.. it was cloudy for some days,.. but still I could enjoy the sun and the beach. I met my friend from Pedreguer (les Perverses), my 'quintos', my friends from Dénia,Arnau and Carme, Tereseta, and of course my family!!! my little cousins have grown up a lot!!!

I've been in the 'cordà' where the people plays to trough rockets to each other inside a huge cage. I went to see the 'rally humoristic' where people with costumes hang around trying to answer some questions about folk culture and has to do some funny physical tests. There I ended up singing 'Una chica yeyé' with Albert and in front of more than 100 people!! I went to 'El Quatre', to the dinner with 'els quintos', the people that has the same age as me. I saw the fireworks,.. 9 days of non-stop where I managed to disconnect perfectly from the work and the London life,... So hard to come back to London after such a beautiful time surrounded by people that really appreciate me: so many lovely people that, of course, I miss,..

When I came back I worked one more week on City of Justice and then,.. finally I got a new project!! I am doing a tower in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, and I'm in charge of doing a 6 floors SPA for women in the last floors of the building, that means above 400 meters hight!!! It will probably be the highest SPA in the world!! I'm so excited!!A new life seems to arrive at the office,.. new project, new people,.. and people that I will miss working with,.. but I'm sure it will be nice! This week a Japanese guy has joined our team and next week my friend Andrés from Madrid will do it, it will be nice to have some familiar face around!

In my life some more things have changed. Last week I joined the gym and I'm trying to go 3 times per week. I've already been in yoga class, in aqua gym, swimming, threadmill,...And Sharan will come with me! We will be very fit!!

Last Sunday I went with my father and some friends to the Oyster Festival in Witstable, it was a very sunny day and we had very nice time there.

Now there are some travels waiting for me. In August I'll go first to Dublin and after to New York. And probably I'll go to Venice in September, I've never been to the Venice Biennale and I would like to go this year. Let's see,... The summer is going too fast!!!!

City of Justice presentation and AA party

Yesterday was the City of Justice presentation for Group 6 in F+P. The City of Justice project is the where I've been working since last September. Now we kind of finish it and we had to show what we did to the rest of the group.
I was so disappointed because of the way of organizing it,..we always have to do everything at the last minute, instead of having time to prepare the things properly. But at the end it went much better than what I expected, as we have very good people at the team. It was too long though,...
We were supposed to show all the process from the concept design until the detailing of each part of the building,.. so finally it wasn't a presentation but a lecture and I decided not to talk as I thought there were too many things to explain and I didn't want to bore the people talking about flooring, ceilings or toilettes,...So at the end everyone talked but Sharan and me,..
During and after the presentation we were drinking a lot of wine, and after the lecture I was talking with the people who has been working in the same project as me but from Madrid. It was nice to meet them and share some glasses of wine with them,..

We left the office at about 20.30 I would say,.. and taking some bottles of wine with us we went towards the AA party. We were already quite drunk,.. There I met with my friend Betty and she showed me her project that was exhibit. There we kept on drinking wine,.. meeting people from everywhere,... It was really nice,.. but suddenly my bottle of wine was disappeared and the university (were the party was) was closed, and the friends from the office that came with me,.. disappeared as well,.. Ups!!!
Then,. I decided to go with Betty and some friends of her to a bar (I would not be able to find it again,...I had almost 2 bottles of wine in my body,..)We were a very international group of people what it is always very nice: Malaysian, Korean, Japanese, English, Turkish, Polish, Lebanese, South Arabian, Italian,...
After that the bar closed down and we decided to go to a club but were being in queue the security guy told us that it was pack so we decided to go to another club,... but it was getting very late,.. and I started to be tired,.. so me and one of the Korean guys (that lives in the same neighborhood as me) decided to take the bus and go home,...
Such a hangover today!!!
But another party is waiting for me tonight!!! hehehe
We'll go to the Notting Hill market, after goodbye dinner with Betty and after,.. probably party at Will's place (a friend from the Erasmus)Let's see,..

the destiny,...

Last weekend visiting the Docklands

Already two weeks has passed since I received an email from the Japanese embassy telling me that unfortunately I hadn't been selected for getting the Monbukagakusho scholarship.
At the beginning I was very disappointed because I put a lot of effort to get it and it seemed like that was for nothing,...But it is never for nothing,.. you always learn something and this time I've learnt that maybe go to study another master in Tokyo was not what I should do,..
I started to think though that maybe I should go to work! hehehe But I am afraid of the Japanese working conditions,.. even if I think I could really learn a lot. At the moment I'll wait to see what is waiting for me at F+P because we've finished the City of Justice project and now I am supposed to start working in a new one,.. let's wait to see if it is stimulating enough to keep me in London,...

Since yesterday I've started to think about the destiny. There is one person in my life that each time that appears (virtually or physically)makes me believe in the destiny. He probably doesn't even know about this little space where I can tell what I think and what I am doing,.. but today it is dedicate to him. Thanks for the smile that you raised in my face!
I believe that there are some non-material links that could not be ever erased. Sometimes you don't even know how have they been created, sometimes you would like to break them,.. sometimes you would like to materialize them, but they just exist in that state and you cannot alter them.
Today I would like the wind to bring me to no-man's land, would that be possible?

Happy birthday :-) Happy weekend surrounded by friends

My friend Carmen arrived of Friday night. We prepared a international lunch to celebrate my birthday and Carmen's visit. After we went to a bar all together,.. The club where we were planning to go was full and there was a very long queue to get in so we couldn't,..
On Sunday we went to Brick Lane, we had a Okonomiyaki for lunch (I could read Okonomiyaki in Japanese :-) !!!!) And after we found a concert in a cloth shop. A handsome young guy was singing,...When the concert ended we went to visit Betty (I had been a long time without seeing her!) and we had some beers in Kentish town in the garden of the bar near Betty's place,...
On Monday was my birthday even if I celebrated it on Saturday. We met with Carmen for lunch and all the team came to have lunch at the Portuguese bar. At 6, when I finished work,.. we decided to go to take some beers, I didn´t know but they prepared it and all the team came again and we had some drinks together. And,.. surprise, surprise!! they wrote me a very nice card and gave me a lot of presents!!! :-) They are sooo nice!!!
Carmen left yesterday,.. she was going back to Granada to continue doing her final project,.. It was a pleasure have her here!! Good luck with your project Carmencita!! and next time,... we will visit you in Granada! :-)

Trying to learn Japanese

Few weeks ago I managed to hand in the papers for the Monbukagakusho scholarship. It was not easy though.

I had to gather a lot of papers: official acamedic schores, confidential recommendation letters, certificate of health, portfolio, an abstract of my thesis in English, CV in English and Spanish and the most difficult one,.. an essay explaining what I want to study/research there.

It was a nightmare the fact of getting ready all that papers while I was having the final deadline of the project where I was working on in the office. Adding the difficulties that entails the fact of being in a foreign country at the time,.. I think that was almost a miracle that I managed to gather all the papers in just 3 weeks,...

Of course, I had a lot of people helping me. My sister collecting the recommendation forms and sending them, David collecting the official certificate of my scores and giving it to my sister, my mum doing the certified copies of the official documents, my flatmate Eli tranlating the official document into English, Sharan checking the English of my essay and abstract, Vimal binding the different copies of the portfolio,... and a long etc,... I finally finished writting the day before sending it that was the last day,.. uffff!!! such a stressing time!! but now it is done and I am waiting for the results,.. :S Let's see if I am lucky enough and I can pass to the second stage,...

Probalby I'll receive the results this week,.. and if I pass I'll have to travel to Madrid to take an English and a Japanese exam so,.. since I've sent the envelope with all the papers for the scholarship I started to study Japanese.

I bought several books: Japanese for busy people was the first of them, and after I tried with teach yourself Japanes (45minutes a day during 6 weeks) but 3 days ago I called to the Japanese Embassy to ask about the result and the exams and they told me that the exam will be in Japanese characters not in roman letters as what I was studying. AGhhh!!!! so since 3 days ago I'm trying to learn to read Japanese,...

I've started with Kanji (chinese letters) but Tomo and Audun told me that it was the most difficult part, that I should start with Hiragana. So,.. now I'm starting to learn Hiragana and Katakana. They are two different syllabaries, one that is used for words with Japanese procedence and the other one for foreign names and imported words. They not only mixed these two syllabaries but they mix them with Kanjies as well!!! It's crazy!!! I've already knew these because Tomo explained to me some time ago,.. but once you start learning it you realized even more how difficult it is,..

Let's see what can I do,...

Preparing papers for the scholarship,...

Last weekend spent in Pedreguer, raining all the time.
I visited the dentist who repaired one of my teeth, the doctor who did a Certificat of Health that I need to present in the application for the scholarship and the dermatologist. Of course I've seen some family and friends and I 'went back' to my past as a teenager in my village with some friends listening to live punk music,...
When I arrived to London on Sunday at 3 o'clock, it was terribly warm and sunny, everyone was in the park and I went to the office to do this image that I've post. It is a render+collage that I've done for a friend who is presenting his final project this week. Good luck Camilo!
And today after manage to talk with my professor from who I need a recommendation form, I've tried to start to write the paper that I need to present in the application for the scholarship. It is not easy,...it took me quite a long time to write the first line, but as always, once you have the structure of the text and the first sentence the rest comes smoothly. I haven't finished yet,.. but tomorrow morning before go to work I'll keep on writting.
My God!!! it is so hard to get this scholarship!!! I'll be giving you more information about how this will be evolving,...

The postgraduate's chronicle/La crònica d'una post-graduada

1st February-18th February

I arrived to London, I didn't have a house, I've stayed for 2 weeks in Betty's place, she was so nice! I was helping her a little bit with her project and I saw how the AA works, and I have to say that I'm not convinced about it's method,...

I received some news from my former flatmate, they were supposed to leave the flat in 2 months. and Aylin, the girl who took my room when I came to Spain to finish my final project told me that she hadn't paid me the deposit and that she won't do it. Why? she said that the agency should gave me that money,.. but it wasn't the way that I did it when I joined the flat... I talked with the agency and they, of course, told me that they will not give me any money because there were still people living there and they 2 of them who were supposed to be my friends were not paying the month, as they were afraid of don't get the deposit back once they will move. So at the end,.. they let me completely alone and loosing 433pounds!!! That was a very bad time,... 3 people that I thought that were my friends and leave me alone with that,...Sad and unbelievable,....Days and people to forget,..

19th of February to 19th of March

New flat, new flatmates!!! When I arrived I immediately started to look for a flat and, this time I've been very lucky! The second flat I went to visit, I loved it!! and by chance I found my new flatmates in the office, I've found the advertisement of the flat with 3 rooms and they were 2 people looking for a flat, so,.. all together went to visit it and all of us loved it. The day after, the landlord told us that we could had it,... and we moved in the 19th of February!
I'm feeling so comfortable in my new house!!! it is just 5 minutes walk from the office and that means more time for myself,.. so I started cooking a lot and going to the swimming pool,... The only problem that we had, was with the internet connection that was not working at the beginning but at the end we've solved it and now everything is going very well.

At the end of February, my contract and my scholarship ended and I got a permanent contract! it was not easy to negotiate the new salary,.. but at the end I'm getting payed quite well,...

back to London as an architect!

Friday 25 (model making me crazy): 24 hours working from 6 in the morning until 6 in the morning, so tired,... Kim (buying me material for the model), Manel (printing in the laser cutter), Mar, Marta and Carles (helping me building the model) Wow! such a nice friends! :-)
Monday 28(presentation day): , instead of having 4 people in the jury, only 2 came + my tutor, who was really nice,... My sister and my friends came to see my presentation, and I was not very nervous,.. what is a good point! There were only the president of the jury (urbanism profesor) and the secretary of the jury (construction profesor) the one from design didn't came,...
The presentation was fine and the congratulate my work, I was happy! at the end,.. they gave me the best mark that they gave, which wasn't a super mark,.. but taking in account that there wasn't the desing part of the jury,.. I'm quite happy,.. They gave me an 8 but that only represents 3/375 part of the studies,.. so,.. not so much for the effort that it suppose,...
Tuesday 29: Printing an a3 booklet with my 34 pages (A1)for the library of the university + handing it in to get the paper that I should present in the secretary of the university to tramit my degree. Finally I arrived there and they didn't allowed me to do it,.. they said I should wait for one week,.. but I was coming back to London!! finally I could kind of arrange it,...
Wednesday 30: back to Pedreguer to say goodbye to the family, and SPA to relax,...
Thursday 31:woke up at 5 and start to flight at 10,..falling asleep every 30 seconds,..and,.. back to the grey and cold London!! My friend Betty open her house to me: so nice!!! and here I am.
Friday 1: back to the office. Very nice to see all my collegues again!!! but not so nice to see all the work that was waiting for me, uiiiii!!! In the late afternoon start to visit flats and,.. surprise! the first that I visited with 2 more friends from the office was soooo nice!! so cosy! it even have a fireplace!! and today they told us that we can have it! I'm so happy!! but first I want to sign the contract and after I'll be more happy, hehehe
I'll tell you how everything will end,...

The final presentation is closer and closer,..

Only 10 days are missing for the final presentation,... 1 year of work that is finishing to be handed in. 20 minutes, 4 people in the jury, and me with my more than 30 A1 and the model that will be made,... My God,.. I wish that day to be past,.. and be finally an architect.

Yesterday the secretaries from the university called me and they told me that at the end the presentation will the the 28th instead of the 29th, so,.. one day less,... but that means one day to rest and to be with my friends that I've been a long time without have seen them,.. nice,...

And in these days you reaalize which are the real friends,.. the ones that really care about you. Suddenly, they write to you and they ask you if you need some help,... I'm really happy, and I really thank all of you, to be with me and give me a hand,.. that gives you a lot of energies and pleasure, to know that there is someone there.

On sunday I'll go to Barcelona, on monday I'll print the final presentation, next thursday I'll hand in, after I'll work in the model, and finally I'll present the 28th. At the end I will even have a tutor!!! I was not imagining that, after been working such a long time without it, one of the professors that I had last year agreed to be my tutor, so,.. let's hope that everything will go fine,...

Now I'm starting to think about my accomodation in London,.. I'll come back the 31st of January and I left my room before I came..I was supposed to go to live with a danish girl, but it doesn't seems to work, as the landlord wants to know me before I'll rent the room, and,.. I'm here in Spain, and I can't meet him yet,..

Today I've cut my hair, with a very short french,.. uiiii
And,.. it is so warm here in Pedreguer,.. sunny and warm,.. :-)

Here I post a picture with my new haircut ;-p
